E.01 — Life on Meridian

Getting around

The world is 133,632 blocks wide, so getting around is part of the game. Here's every way to travel.

Ports

Ports are Meridian's long-distance network. Towns open them, set their own fee, and players hop between them.

  1. 1
    Open a port

A mayor stands where ships should arrive and uses /t set port spawn, then sets a fee with /t set port price <amount> (1 to 100 gold, default 10).

  2. 2
    Go to a port

Travel starts from a port: stand in a town's port chunk. /t port list shows every port and /t port here tells you if you're in one.

  3. 3
    Sail

/t port <town> works out the cheapest route through the port network (each hop up to 2,750 chunks) and charges each port's fee on the way. There's a 10-second warm-up and a 60-second cooldown.

Enemies of a town's nation and its outlaws can't use its port, and you can't sail from the wilderness.

Teleporting

  • Town spawn/t spawn takes you to your town for 1 gold (paid to your town), or to another town in your nation for 3 gold. 30-second cooldown; not while in combat.
  • Nation spawn/n spawn takes you to your nation's capital.
  • Siege spawnsDuring a siege, /siegetp tp <town> takes you to your side's spawn. See Sieges.

On the ground and at sea

  • Fast railsPut a powered rail on top of a redstone block and minecarts reach 4× normal speed. National rail lines make great projects.
  • Instant carts and boats/cart on a rail or /boat on water or ice puts you straight into one, and it vanishes when you get out. A supporter perk.
  • Town flight/tfly lets you fly inside your own town for a few gold per minute. It switches off in combat, outside your land and in siege zones. A supporter perk.
  • The NetherThe Nether is 8× smaller than the overworld and its border lines up with the map, so a Nether highway is the fastest way across a continent.
  • Happy GhastsTame one and fly. In a siege, /siegetp ghasttp <town> flies your whole crew to your side's spawn.

Finding your way

  • Where am I?/getlocation shows your real-world coordinates, with a Google Maps link.
  • Where is it?/coordinate <latitude> <longitude> finds any real place in game, e.g. /coordinate 48.85 2.35 for Paris.
  • How far?/distance <town> or /distance <town> <town> gives the distance in blocks, chunks and real kilometres.
