Building tips

Everything Meridian adds to make building quicker and easier.

Getting materials fast

  • Any stone from cobblestoneIn a stonecutter, cobblestone turns into stone, granite, diorite, andesite, tuff, deepslate, cobbled deepslate, calcite, dripstone and blackstone, one for one, and all of them turn back into cobblestone. Mine whatever's nearest and cut it into the stone you need. See New recipes.
  • Stone variantsCobblestone and stone also cut straight into smooth stone, and granite, diorite and andesite swap freely. Then the usual stonecutter recipes take over: stairs, slabs, walls and bricks for every stone that has them.
  • Sand and gravelIn a stonecutter, cobblestone cuts into gravel and gravel into sand, and sandstone and red sandstone cut back into sand. Sand and red dye make red sand, and red sand works for concrete powder too. No digging out beaches.
  • Wood in a stonecutterLogs and planks cut into stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, trapdoors, buttons and pressure plates with no waste. See Wood stonecutting.
  • Whole trees at onceThe Deforester fells a map tree in 3 chops and drops everything in one pile.
  • Concrete in secondsRight-click a water cauldron with a stack of concrete powder: the whole stack turns into concrete.
  • Cheaper carpetsOne wool makes 3 carpets.
  • Swap flower dyesEvery dye you can get from a flower converts into any other in a stonecutter, one for one: red, yellow, orange, pink, magenta, light blue, blue, light gray, gray, white, black and cyan. Farm one kind of flower and cut its dye into whatever colour you need. Green, lime, brown and purple aren't flower dyes, so they aren't included.
  • LightingGlowstone dust is craftable from redstone and blaze powder, glowstone breaks back into dust, and glowstone dust on a stick makes 4 end rods. Froglights are craftable too. See New recipes.
  • Natural blocksCoral, mud, ice and packed ice, clay, end stone, pale moss and other blocks that are hard to find are craftable. See New recipes.
  • CopperFortune gives far more raw copper than usual, so copper roofs, trapdoors and bulbs are cheap.

Placing and shaping

  • Litematica easy place is allowedPlan a build in Litematica (or download a schematic), load it in your town, and use easy place to place it block by block from your own inventory. It's a client mod: you still need every block.
  • The WrenchSneak and right-click to rotate stairs (a full turn flips them upside down), glazed terracotta, anvils, grindstones, dispensers, observers, repeaters, comparators, end rods, lightning rods, doors (both halves at once), single chests, ender chests and barrels. On logs, wood, stems and pillars (quartz, purpur, basalt, bone blocks, hay, chains, froglights) it turns them to lie along the next axis, so you can lay beams sideways without placing them from the side. Works wherever you're allowed to build. See All features.
  • FlagsBanners on the side of a block fly as flags, and can be made up to 10 times bigger. See Building & decoration.
  • Moving buildsGates, drawbridges and portcullises that really move. See Moving builds.
  • Armour stands/eas give gives you the armour stand editor to pose stands for statues, guards and shop displays.
  • Invisible item framesCraftable, for floating items on walls: shelves, signs and displays. See New recipes.
  • Hopper filtersSort your storage room with filters written in plain text. See Hopper filters.

Keeping your build safe

  • Build inside your townIn claimed land nobody else can break, place or open anything unless you let them, and fire spread and explosions are off.
  • Your own plotBuy or get a plot in your town and only you and your friends (/res friend add) can build there. /plot perm shows what's allowed.
  • Building with friends/plot trust add <player> lets one player build on your plot; /t trust add <player> lets them build across the town.
  • No creepers mid-buildHostile mobs spawn in towns unless the town buys the Mob Control perk (/t perks). Light your build site well in the meantime.
  • Sieges don't destroy buildsNobody can break a town's buildings in a siege: what's at stake is gold and freedom. See Sieges.

Your build on the map

  • The live mapEverything you build shows on the live map in flat and globe view, and it updates as you build.
