Towns & camps

How towns grow, how nations rank up, what happens when a mayor disappears, and how to get started before you have a town at all.

Camps: before you have a town

  1. 1
Find a spot in the wilderness

It must be at least 5 chunks from any town's land and away from other camps.

  2. 2
    Crouch and place a campfire

The chunk around it becomes your camp for 7 days. Only you (and your friends) can build, break or open things there. Explosions and fire can't damage it.

  3. 3
    Let friends in

Add them with /res friend add <player>.

  4. 4
    Found your town

When you're ready, stand in your camp and use /t new <name>. The camp turns into your town. Joining any town also ends your camp.

Camp commands

  • Where's my camp?/camp shows where it is and how long it has left.
  • Take it down/camp remove, or break the campfire.

Running a town

  • Found one/t new <name> (128 gold) where you stand. That chunk becomes your home block.
  • Claim land/t claim claims the chunk you're in (it must touch your town). /t unclaim gives it up.
  • Invite and remove/t add <player>, /t kick <player>. /t toggle open lets anyone join without an invite.
  • Give out roles/t rank add <player> assistant for trusted helpers (assistants can invite, claim and more).
  • Town spawn/t set spawn sets your town's spawn point. Members travel there with /t spawn for 1 gold, which goes to the town bank.
  • Culture/t set culture <name> gives your town a culture, shown on the town screen.
  • PlotsStand in a chunk and use /plot set shop for shop plots, or /plot forsale <price> to sell it to a resident.
  • Look around/t shows your town, /t here shows whose land you're on, and /towny map draws the claims around you. /distance <town> tells you how far away another town is.
  • Discord/t set discord <invite> adds a clickable Discord invite to your town screen (mayor and assistants). Nation leaders and their assistants can do the same with /n set discord <invite>. Use none to remove it.
  • ResourcesSurvey your land to find what it produces and collect it every day. See Town resources.
  • Nations/n new <name> (500 gold) makes your town a capital. Invite towns with /n add <town>, make friends with /n ally add <nation> and enemies with /n enemy add <nation>.
  • CostsClaims, upkeep and the other prices are on Gold & money.

Town sizes

Towns level up as players join. Each player gives the town 8 chunks it can claim. Bigger towns can also have more outposts.

Mayor succession

If a mayor hasn't been online for 30 days, the town passes to the longest-standing assistant who has played in the last week. If there isn't one, it goes to the longest-standing active resident. The town is told when this happens.

What counts as being active

A visit only counts once you've been online for 10 minutes. Log off sooner and the server treats it as if you never came, so a mayor can't pop on for a few seconds to keep a dead town alive. If you've been away for 25 days or more, you need to stay for 2 hours before you count as back.

Inactive towns

When nobody in the town has been active for 30 daysWhat happens
The town has 3 residents or fewerIt falls into ruin. Its land is no longer protected.
The town has 4 residents or moreIt goes up for sale, priced on its land and bank. Anyone can buy it with /t buytown <town> and becomes its mayor. The server announces the sale.
Still unsold after 7 daysIt falls into ruin.

If any resident comes back and plays for long enough, the town is safe. A ruined town's old mayor can reclaim it for 500 gold with /t reclaim.

Apartments

Mayors and assistants can split a plot into apartments, shops or rooms of any shape, even across chunk borders, and sell or rent them to players.

  1. 1
    Get the selection tool

/q wand gives you a piece of flint. Left-click one corner and right-click the opposite corner.

  2. 2
    Add the box

/q selection add. Repeat for more boxes if the room is an odd shape.

  3. 3
    Create the apartment

/q create, then name it with /q set name <name>.

  4. 4
    Sell it

Stand inside and use /q sell <price>. Players buy it by standing inside and using /q claim.
