Channels

Your chat channel stays the same until you switch.

• Everyone/g
• Nearby (100 blocks)/l
• Your town/tc
• Your nation/nc
• Your nation and its allies/ac
• Buying and selling/trade (one message every 30 seconds)
• How switching worksType the command on its own to switch channel, e.g. /tc. Put a message after it to send just that one message, e.g. /g hello, and stay where you were.
• Hide a channel/channel list shows every channel. /channel leave trade hides general, local or trade chat; /channel join trade brings it back.

Reading chat

• Town and nation tagsMessages show the sender's nation and town. Hover over them for the leader, size and residents; click to open the full town or nation screen.
• NamesHover over a name to see the player's real name if they use a nickname. Click it to start a private message.
• MentionsWhen someone types your name, it's highlighted for you and you hear a bell.
• BadgesLittle symbols before a name. Mayors, nation leaders and the leader of the biggest nation get theirs automatically. Pick which ones show (up to 2) with /badge.

Show a whole piece of gear (once every 3 seconds)

• The item in your hand/show
• Your helmet/head
• Your chestplate/torso
• Your leggings/legs
• Your boots/boots
• Your off hand/offhand

Private messages and mail

• Message someone/msg <player> <text>, reply with /r <text>.
• MailLeave a message for someone who's offline with /mail send <player> <text>. They're told when they log in. Read yours with /mail read and empty the mailbox with /mail clear.
• Ignore/ignore <player> hides their chat and messages. Do it again to stop ignoring them. /ignorelist shows who you're ignoring.
• Last seen/seen <player> tells you when they were last online.
• Away/afk marks you as away. You also go away after 5 minutes without moving or chatting. Everyone sees when you leave and come back, and [AFK] shows next to your name in the player list.

Chat rules the server enforces

• Slow downOne message a second, and you can't send the same message twice within 30 seconds.
• No shoutingMessages that are mostly capital letters are turned into lowercase. Long runs of the same letter are shortened.
• LinksOnly links to Meridian's own sites, Discord, YouTube and Imgur are shown to others.

Help

• Help/help sends you a link to this wiki.
• Report a player/report <player> <reason> alerts online staff. /my-reports shows what happened to your reports.
• TipsThe first time you do certain things (pick up gold, place a chest, enter a siege zone) you get a short tip. /tips off hides them, /tips reset shows them all again.
